Walter Hansel Estate Pinot Noir 2016
Displays attractive notes of pomengranate, red cherries, wild strawberries, hints of damp earth and spice, fresh acidity and a medium bodied fresh Cote de Beaune-like style.
About the winemakerBefore turning his hand to winemaking, Walter Hansel loved to grow everything – from kiwis to oriental pears. But it was in the 1970’s that he endeavoured to plant 257 Chardonnay vines and in the years that followed both Walter and his son Stephen experimented with viticulture, developing their passion for winemaking. The winery has come a long way since then, with Stephen now at the helm as owner and winemaker. One of its more unique features is that no one works full-time in the winery – whenever Stephen needs a helping hand, he enlists the help of his vineyard manager and crew.
